What stays on your phone
Your name, chosen subjects and exams, and all your progress are stored on your phone. You can use Cara's Tips fully offline.
Online backup
So that progress survives a lost or new phone, each learner's progress is backed up to our server when the phone is online. The backup does not include the learner's name, a parent's phone number or a class sign-in. It is linked only to a recovery code; we store a scrambled version of the code, not the code itself. You can turn the backup off, or delete it, in Settings → Online backup.
Error reports
If something breaks, the app sends a short technical note (the error, the screen, the app version and the type of phone or browser) so we can fix it. It contains no names, answers or progress.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not show third-party adverts.
- We do not ask for a phone number, email address or password to use the app.
Children
Most of our learners are under 18. We collect as little as possible, and nothing that identifies a child is uploaded with the backup. A parent or guardian can ask us to delete a backup at any time.
Where data is kept
Backups and error reports are stored with Cloudflare, our hosting provider.
